It is with great regret that we are announcing the death of Dre Marie Lambert, who passed away on Monday, February 20th 2012, in Montreal, at the age of 59.
Dre Lambert was the principal investigator on the QUALITY study. It was because of her that many research collaborators of different specialties could come together to develop the Family Study on the Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease and type 2 Diabetes in Children and Adolescents. Her rigor, determination and passion permitted the development and success of this far reaching cohort.
In addition to her research activities for the QUALITY cohort, she actively participated in several other studies of equal importance such as the Quebec Longitudinal Study of Child Development (QLSCD), and the Health and Social Survey of Quebec Children and Adolescents.
As a pediatric geneticist, she worked at CHU Sainte- Justine for 26 years, where she founded the lipids clinic and contributed to the ongoing improvement of the care of children with metabolic diseases. She participated in the development of the genetic medicine in Quebec. She is also the president and founder of « L’Association des médecins généticiens du Quebec ». She also knew how to share her profound knowledge through her teaching of students and residents in genetic counselling.
More recently, she was also co-director of the CIRCUIT centre (Center for Intervention in Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation for the Whole Family) which she founded with Dr Jean-Luc Bigras and other colleagues from CHU Sainte- Justine.
